The itinerary of Luxor and Aswan 3 days tour:
Day 1
You will be picked up from your hotel at approximately 5am and drive to Luxor in a deluxe air-conditioned vehicle to visit Karnak Temple. With an experienced, knowledgeable and passionate guide, our guests will visit the open-air museum of Karnak. The visit takes about 2 hours as the Karnak Temple complex occupies a huge area with temples built by several Egyptian rulers. Continue to the east bank of Luxor, where you will have lunch at a local restaurant.
Continue to the Valley of the Kings, the splendor of the magnificent architecture used for burial. The magnificent tombs of ancient kings were discovered there, carved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures for the pharaohs’ afterlife. The most famous tombs are those of King Thutmose I, Thutmose III, Tutankhamun, King Ramses VI, King Mrenptah and Amonhotep II.
Then be inspired by the remarkable architecture and finally visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, the only female ruler of ancient Egypt. You will pass the Colossi of Memnon, the remains of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III.
Afterwards, you will drive to Aswan and check into a nice hotel after a long day.
*Day 2
After breakfast, drive with your private air-conditioned vehicle to enjoy another great experience in Aswan. In Aswan, you will visit the High Dam, an engineering marvel built in the 1960s. From the top of the dam you have a wonderful view over Lake Nasser to the Kalabsha Temple in the south and a huge power station in the north. Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarries of Aswan, where much of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi originated. The unfinished obelisk still lies where it was carved when a crack was discovered when it was carved out of the rock. Your qualified Egyptologist will explain how the 1 ton obelisk was carved and why the crack meant it had to be abandoned.
Afterwards we will take a break and have a delicious lunch in a restaurant. The last of the three famous Aswan sites you will see is generally considered the best. The Philae Temple was carefully moved to its present location (about 500 meters from the original site) when the construction of the High Dam caused the Nile waters to rise. A short motorboat ride takes you to the island, where you can visit the famous Philae Temple on foot before having time to explore further on your own. The Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, is beautifully situated in the river and has been landscaped to match its original location. After visiting the temple, drive to your hotel and spend the night.
Day 3
In the morning, take your breakfast packs and drive approx. 3 hours to Abu Simbel. The two massive temples of Abu Simbel were built for the Great King Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari. The construction of the great temple took about 20 years.
The temple of Abu Simbel witnessed the battles and victories of Ramses II and the walls of the temple also tell of his family and his sacrifices to the gods together with his wife. Afterwards, we will drive to a local restaurant to have a delicious lunch. At the end of this wonderful tour, you will be driven back to your hotel in Hurghada.
